Project: Chen creates Pusu, a furniture design brand based at the heart of Shanghai. Pusu means ‘austerity’ in Chinese. Chen prefers to draw inspiration from Calligraphy and traditional Chinese wooden furniture.
Background: Born in a doctor’s family, Chen started learning Calligraphy since early age, and then was admitted into Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, where he became familiar with graphic design. After graduation, he worked at a commercial magazine that features on furniture. Chen’s passion on furniture design was inspired at that time, especially when he found a way to combine his love of Chinese Calligraphy with furniture design. With this dream, Chen created his own designing brand, ‘Pusu’.
